About Dee Stapleton
As you will probably know, my name is Dee Stapleton, and I have been making candles since 1998 and this website has pretty much been my baby ever since then! When I first started, there were very very few resources available online, and as a result, The Essential Survival Guide to Candlemaking was born! This site started out as a place to record my own experiences, formulas and testing results in an attempt to help other candlemakers ... and it's grown and grown ever since!
I am mother to two terrific kids, Megan and Nathan, and live in the UK in a fabulous part of the country with the beach about 30 minutes walk in front of me, and beautiful countryside behind me.
My candles are all hand poured in my workshop on a local industrial estate, and I am very lucky to have the space that I have got now, but I started out in the tiniest corner of the smallest kitchen in the world! I started purely as a hobbyist and had no intention of starting a business ... I just wanted to make great candles!!
In my "spare" time, I train as a kickboxer. It helps to keep me fit, but it also gives me loads of self confidence as a female, knowing that if I was put in that situation, although my first form of defence would always be to run away ... I could definitely kick ass if I had to! Plus, I have very cool pink gloves!
I also love photography as you can probably tell by the picture above!! I have a Canon EOS 5D camera and it's the best investment I ever made! I try to get out with my camera as often as I can! The local paper even published an article about me with some of the photographs I took of people in my local town!

My other big love is music. I use a website called Last.fm which is basically an online radio station full of music YOU love! Put in your favourite artist and it comes up with other similar music. It's a great way to find new music! You can set up a playlist with your favourite tracks and mine has, umm, thousands of tracks I love across all different genres of music! It's brilliant!
I'm not able to answer private questions on candlemaking - come join the forums for that, but if you want to contact me, you can send me an email.
