Chunk pillar candles

These attractive pillars offer something a little different from the usual run of the mill pillars. Chunk candles are my signature candles.

For this project you will need:
Double boiler
Thermometer
Scissors
Mold seal
mold
Cloth or sponge for support
Paraffin wax and additives for your formula.
Primed wick
Different colour dyes

You can prepare the chunks in several ways. Some people pour wax into cookie trays lined with wax paper and then cut into chunks while the wax is soft. I make chunks in ice cube trays as shown in the photo as it's convenient for me! Do it whatever way suits you and your set up best.

Prepare and wick your mold as demonstrated in making a basic candle. Fill the mold up to the top with chunks. You can either have one colour chunks, random multi colours or layer different chunk colours. The possibilities are endless!

Melt your overpour wax in whatever colour you like and pour into the mold at 180°F. You can leave it plain or use a contrasting colour. As you can see, the results are quite unique!!
