Cupcake candles

A BIG thanks to Pam Rhoden for suggesting this project and for allowing me to use her photograph.

As always, refer to the basic candle making safety procedure.
You will need:
Usual candle making equipment (double boiler, wick, dye etc.)
Paper Muffin cases (the larger ones work best)
Whisk or fork
Wax chunks for decoration
Brown dye
Wick
Coloured dye for topping
Scent

Step 1
Melt your wax as usual and dye it a nice creamy brown colour. This will form the bases of the cupcakes. While the wax is melting, prepare the paper cases. I used 4 or 5 inside each other for strength. Alternatively just use one and place it in a cake tray to support the hot wax.

Step 2
When the wax has melted and you are happy with the colour, carefully pour it into the muffin cases. I fill to just below the top edges.

Step 3
While you are waiting for the bases to set (this will take approximately half an hour to 45 minutes) you can start to prepare the topping. You are limited only by your imagination (and your scent supply) for the combinations you can come up with. Melt some wax for the topping, dye and scent it and leave it to cool.

Step 4
When the wax has cooled so that there is a skin on top, you are ready to begin whipping it. It takes a while to whip, but once it has reached the right consistency you will need to work fairly quickly. You will know it is the right consistency when there is hardly any liquid left in the pan and it is still a little sloppy.
