Moulds / Molds around the house!

candles can be made from paper cups! There are SO many things around the house that can be used to make a candle from! Generally speaking if it can withstand the temperature of boiling water, it will be okay filled with wax!

Pictured left is a paper cup and a wooden skewer used to support the wick. This will make a basic but great looking pillar candle! An empty juice carton makes an ideal mold as the carton can simply be torn away when the candle cools. Old ice cream tubs can also be used. It may be useful to use two wicks if using a wide tub or pot. This will make the candle easier to remove and will create an interesting effect when lit.

Other household molds I have experimented with

  • Childrens yoghurt pots
  • carton refils for fabric conditioner (tear away)
  • Milk cartons (tear away)
  • Baby food jars (for container candles)
  • Coffee jars (for container candles)
There are many many more - just look around your kitchen and use your imagination.
