Candle Making

* Pour excess wax into an old pan lined with greaseproof waxed paper. DO NOT pour it down the drain. It will clog. Let the wax set and set aside to use for chunks.

* When you have finished, place your equipment in boiling water until the wax melts. Wipe away wax using a paper towel and then wash everything in warm soapy water.

* Place metal moulds in a 150F oven on a foil lined baking tray and heat for 15 minutes. The wax will melt and run onto the foil. DO NOT heat oven higher than 150F or you will cause the welds in the mould to melt.

* Rather than prying and scraping melted wax from glass containers and votive holders, place them in a freezer. The wax will shrink and pop out easily.

* If you spill wax on your clothes or the carpet, pour boiling water on the spill to melt the wax away. Then place a paper towel over it and iron. The wax will be transferred to the paper towel.
